Now that I’ve had some time to decompress and get back into the regular swing of things, I can very easily say that my favourite parts of Marrakesh were the rooftop views from each area of the city. Jemaa El-Fna square from Café de France and Café L’Ancien, the view of/from our riad (and a bonus tour picture from Bahia Palance of yours truly and PJ); all were greatly enjoyed with a seat in the sun and some sort of drink in hand – usually mint tea or a cappuccino. Our riad also served alcohol, so we treated ourselves to a bottle of Sahara Reserve.
I can also highly recommend the view of the spice souk from Nomad – just make sure you book in advance!

Loves of the Last Week // 24.02.19 – Suz and the Sun

Loves of the Last Week // 24.02.19

Alt text: Suz and the Sun loves, loves of the last week, Suz and the Sun style, shopping, music, recommendations, yotan ottolenghi Simple, chocolate cake
Oh man, this week has been tough. We’re finally in our last week of Dry February and I seriously could have used a glass of wine on Tuesday and Thursday of this week. Hell doesn’t even begin to describe it! It’s all good now, I swear.
Also, the Invisalign diet is real, you guys. But my teeth have never been cleaner in my life – that’s how much I have to brush them. I switch to tray 2 of 22 tomorrow and I’m pumped! On my course, I’ll be changing trays each week instead of every two, but this means my teeth have less time to get used to the trays, so I’m also very excited about the soup in my fridge that I’ll be eating on Tuesday.
Calling all bralette lovers! Run, do not walk, to your nearest Monki for this absolutely gorgeous piece of low-priced lingerie. I’ve already picked it up in Cherry Me Pink and can’t wait to get my hands on the black and green versions as well.
I’ve never bought a pair of shoes faster in my life, and I can’t wait until the first day I can wear these pretty pistachio babies.
I love Burt’s Bees products, but they can be a bit hard to find in Belgium. I can order them off of Feel Unique, but I like to pick things up rather than look at them online. I was very happy to discover the Face Care Guide link to see what the best products for my specific needs would be.
I am 100% influence-able and after seeing this on every Instagrammer’s stories, and being a blonde myself, I had to give this blonde shampoo a try. I left it on my head for just over a minute and was extremely happy with the results considering the price of this pretty little purple bottle
Ghost Town Gold aka THE BEST ‘pickers’ show I’ve ever seen. It’s a great mix of shopping/history/entertainment and these guys are extremely fair and not trying to eff anyone over, which I truly appreciate. and Brit Eaton’s got an energy that’s infectious.
Yotan Ottolenghi’s Simple. I have loved every single recipe that PJ has made from it (especially the chocolate cake. His chocolate skills aren’t why I love him, but it sure helps.).
Here’s hoping next week is way calmer than this one!

Zara September Wishlist // New In Edit – Suz and the Sun

Zara September Wishlist // New In Edit

Zara new in Autumn 2020 September Wishlist
1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Can somebody please explain to me how it’s time for my Zara September wishlist? Not that I’m complaining – Zara does autumn right. But, as ridiculous as this sounds, I truly cannot seem to figure out where the time between May and September has gone – I’ve done a lot, yet somehow the end of summer just isn’t a concept that my brain can currently interpret. C’est la vie in 2020, right? Let’s get on with all the items I’m currently dreaming of.

Zara September Wishlist

Autumn comes at you fast in Europe, though in Paris it’s not quite as sudden an onset as it feels in Gent (thank God). For me, it seems as though WFH will be my way of life for the foreseeable future, and TBH I’m not all that mad about it.

That being said, my Parisian autumn wardrobe will be focusing on casual, everyday life picks rather than rentrée ready pieces.

TRF crop flare mid-rise jeans

Zara TRF crop flare mid-rise jeans

Alright, so I know that people have a love-hate relationship with Zara jeans, but these looked so cute that I knew that I wanted to try them ASAP. I tried this pair of high-waisted cigarette jeans from ASOS (love their low-rise skinny jeans as a short-torsoed gal), but the fit was a bit too high, so here’s hoping that this mid-rise version gives me the look I want!

Merino wool cardigan

My friends tell me I’m a certified cardigan lady now, and I don’t hate it. For their September new in, Zara is gifting us some more of their beautiful merino wool cardigans. I typically wear these as a top by themselves (with a v cute lil bralette underneath), and I’m super excited to add them to my closet again this autumn.

Square neckline t-shirt

Zara square neckline t-shirt

2020 was a ridiculous year, but one great thing I learned is that I love square neck tops. I love them and am not afraid to say it. And I can already guarantee that this will be a regular in my autumn lineup.

Limited edition top (part of a co-ord)

Another new neckline and body-defining top that had me hooked from the moment I saw it. This is part of a co-ord set, but my bod just isn’t made for the type of skirt it pairs with, but I’m already prepping to pair it with those jeans 😏

Contrast scarf

Can we ever have enough scarves? The answer is no. And having a dark, neutral but colourful scarf is making me extremely excited for fall.

Limited edition water-repellent trench

Can you really live in Paris if you don’t have a trench coat? I’ve been looking for a trench that doesn’t break the bank, and as we get into the latter part of the year, a rain-repellent beauty like this could be exactly what I need.

Have you added anything to your September wishlist from Zara or any other retailer? Let me know!

Loves of the Last Week // Birthday Edition – Suz and the Sun

Loves of the Last Week // Birthday Edition

Suz and the Sun loves, loves of the last week, Suz and the Sun style, shopping, music, recommendations, birthday, 2019, 29

Okay, I know this version is a day late, but that’s because I turned 29 this weekend (and consequently had a lot of naps to recover my strength over the last few days…)!

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind since Thursday – I got promoted on Thursday, PJ got some great news Friday, I went out for my first real St. Patrick’s celebration in Gent at Patrick Foley’s with new friends, and then had the most relaxing actual birthday of my 20s.

A few other highlights along the way…

I made some Swedish chocolate balls for my colleagues on Friday and tried a new recipe with different ingredient measurements, and they were my best yet.

These jeans from Only will be my spring essential. I got them one size larger than my regular (since that’s all they had left), but I really like the shape they create on my frame with a bit more room in them.

I ran out of my Pixi Glow Tonic and thought I’d replace it with The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution and I am extremely pleased with it. I thought my face was clean before but the amount of shit that comes off my face with this is ridiculous.

You gotta wear green on my birthday (though let me be clear – there is not a single cell in my body that is Irish), and this beautiful Vila number did the trick!

On Saturday I popped into Zara and picked up the suede version of one of my favourite skorts and this perfect black spring dress that’s secretly a playsuit! The sleeves – I die.

On Sunday, PJ took me to a great Italian restaurant in Gent called Per Bacco – we had a starter of sparkling red wine with Italian meats and cheese, I had lamb ragout pasta while PJ had a guinea fowl dish (he translated it to fancy chicken – haha!), and we finished it off with an amazing dessert platter. Our favourite was the sheep ricotta gelato – oh. my. God. 10/10 would recommend.

We then went to see Captain Marvel with the cosy seats, and I was thoroughly entertained.

And my final present to myself: I’ve been looking for the perfect, solid gold signet pinky ring for AGES and I finally found one that won’t overwhelm my little hands. Thank you, Stone and Strand, for this mini pinky ring.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so wonderful!

Loves of the Last Week // 10.2.19 – Suz and the Sun

Suz and the Sun loves, loves of the last week, Suz and the Sun style, shopping

Another week in the early part of the year, another week of early bedtimes and restless nights. Let’s just say that this week my list of loves is a bit shorter than the last.

I signed up for the #5SmartReads newsletter by Hitha Palepu thanks to Grace Atwood’s rec. Though I still haven’t had time to read this week’s edition.

I discovered Laura Bradshaw on Instagram while watching the Instastories from In The Frow. Her photos are beautiful and extremely refreshing.

And I discovered another 5’2 girl thanks to In The Frow – the beautiful mariajblogs. Short girl style inspo, here I come.

I have no idea where I saw these, but I immediately ordered these Chanel-esque leather slingbacks from M&S. I can’t wait til they come in and the weather allows me to strap them on.

When everything else is going to shit, I always have my picture perfect pup

If you can’t tell, I’m extremely excited for spring. Especially for the days where I can wear shirts like this

We’re planning a move and I’m already thinking about where to place this ASOS Supply rug.

Here’s hoping for a calm week!
